My Writing Process

June 1, 2025

Many readers ask about my writing process. While every writer's journey is unique, I thought I'd share how I approach crafting stories.

The Spark

Stories often begin with a single image or "what if" question. For Fast-Pitch Love, it started with the image of a teenage boy watching a softball game and realizing there's more to attraction than just physical beauty.

Outlining

I'm a planner. Before writing a single sentence, I outline the major plot points, character arcs, and themes. This roadmap keeps me focused during the drafting process.

Daily Writing

I write best in the morning, usually aiming for 1,000 words per day. Some days the words flow easily; others feel like pulling teeth. The key is showing up consistently.

Revision

The real magic happens in revision. I typically go through 3-4 major drafts, focusing on different elements each time: plot, character development, dialogue, and finally, line editing.

Remember, there's no "right" way to write. Find what works for you and stick with it!
